If you are anything like me, today you are drinking a little bit more coffee than normal and preparing for a full week back at the office. Sad panda. Don’t get me wrong, I like my job, but I like my bed a scooch more.
I had a pretty fantastic little holiday stay-cation. I got in some running, swimming, and, wait for it…cycling! My heel has been bugging me so I haven’t run since last Thursday. I’m guessing it’s either plantar fasciitis or achilles tendinitis. I’ve heard both, and in cycling with a new friend, who also happens to be a doctor, she thinks it’s the latter.
I’ve been doing all the physical therapy I know from previous visits with the PT. I have talked this over with Coach Jon, who has also had some heel trouble in the past. I’m being extra cautious because I have big running plans for this year. Wait. Did you hear that? It was the Universe laughing.
Coach Jon advised me on some anti-inflammatory foods and I’m drinking tart cherry juice like it’s my job. He also said my blog wasn’t funny in the last few posts. He did not, however, offer me any help there. Go figure.
Speaking of goals, with this post I’ll have hit the blogger trifecta: the monthly stats post, the year in review post, and now the post where I talk about the OMG ah-mazing things I’m going to accomplish this year. Fortunately for you all, none of them involve arts or crafts, because I’m basically awful at both. No. Scratch that. Make that unfortunately for you all. Those would be epic “nailed it” posts.
Goal #1: Qualify for Boston or get as close as possible. I know I have an uphill battle with this because I’m not running the way I was way back in 2012. SEE: Dusty PR’s. However, I am up for the challenge and what’s the point of having a goal if it doesn’t require a little blood, sweat, and tears?
Goal #2: No fast food. Yes, it’s sad that I have to make this a goal. I have a tendency to go for convenience when it comes to food and I really need to change this. And change it for more than just one year. I had the least gluttonous holiday I think I’ve ever had and I want to continue on this trend and learn to make even more delicious and healthy meals.
Goal #3: Have more fun! I think 2014 was a lot of business. This doesn’t mean 2014 was a downer, but I’d like to be a bit more loosey goosey this year and enjoy myself. I’m not exactly going to start swinging from rafters while downing shots of Fireball or anything, but I want to take a few more random adventures and say yes more. Who wants to take me wake boarding, skiing, and/or rock climbing? I’m also up for under water tea parties.
Goal #4: Read even more. Last year I had the goal of one book per month and I did that. This year I’m just going to shoot to read more than I did in 2014. Simple enough, right?
And that’s it. I’m not going for too many big changes in 2015 because I really want to enjoy my year and in the immortal words of Ferris Bueller, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around every once in a while, you could miss it.”
