My friend Kat also just got a Garmin and we were discussing her name for her new Garmin, which is Dwayne. I’m not quite sure how she came up with Dwayne but we both find it hilarious and thought I should name my new Garmin too.
As an aside, what is the deal with us naming everything? Oh well, it’s fun so let’s just go with it mkay?
Anywho, either Kat or I said “Tyrone” and it struck us as funny. It also reminded me of the song “Tyrone” by Erykah Badu. The song is basically about Erykah kicking out a good-for-nothing boyfriend and telling him that if he needs help getting his shit out of her place then he should call Tyrone.
While the song doesn’t really have anything to do with me or running or a Garmin, I do like to say that when I go for a run, before I head out, I need to call Tyrone….
Today I’m thankful for ridiculous names of inanimate objects. Hahaha!
What are you thankful for?
Hilarious. No seriously, I couldn't imagine you coming up with a less ridiculous name and to be able to pair it with that song… priceless. Also, it will now be stuck in my head all day.
Ok I still haven't named my bike and now you tell me I have to name my Garmin? LOL!!
I would have suggested G-Unit cuz you all thug like dat! Next Garmin, since this one should get blown out in no time with all those miles you rack up. I'm thankful for a half day at work today : )
Wierd
Hahaha I love us!
Wow…..I guess I can't say anything since all my running shoes have names but I can't come up with a story for them like Tyronne. Hilarious.
you are one crazy lady. 🙂
Now if Tyrone could only talk to you, "Let's kick it up bitch, you're slowing me down."
By the way, I would never call you the "B" word. But Tyrone would!
i have not named my garmin yet but that tyrone song is freaking hilarious! thanks for the laugh!!
Tyrone is great, but I like Rufus better.
Nice choice on the 305… I think it's @ the best price point for the features…
nice name too
🙂
My Garmin's name is Sven:)
I teach band and one day, my students got on the subject of naming their instruments. The stuff they came up with is pretty spectacular. One kid named his clarinet Fabio.
I named my bike Roberta thanks to When Harry Met Sally. One of the old people talking referred to the other woman as Roberta, so I ride her hard like she deserves. And try to spend enough time on her to make her the other woman. Fun times!
You better call Tyrone! HA HA! Sounds like something I'd say/do 🙂 I named my bike "Ruby," but that's less inventive since that's what she's called anyway (Specialized makes a model called Ruby.)
When I went from a Polar HRM to the 305 I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! It is the best thing ever to not only know wtf you're doing out there but analyze it in such detail!
Have fun!
I always name my cars…Lil' Beezie, Goldie, the Wiz…but that's about it! I'll step up the inanimate object naming for ya. 🙂
Anytime I met a Tyrone in college I'd sing "you betta cawwwwll Ty-rone". I'm not sure if they found it amusing. It also may or may not have been during nights out downtown.
I think that's as good a reason as any for naming a Garmin. I dig it.
