Monday I skipped hills because Old Wonky was giving me the stink eye. Then on Tuesday I skipped running for delicious dinner date (this one was TOTALLY worth it). Wednesday I did the elliptical and some ab work. And last night I was at work until 11 PM on a special task force that was put together to fix what could have been a major snafu. And all this time, I’ve been snotty and sneezing.
I was thinking it was allergies, but I think I may need to just lock it up and admit that it’s actually a cold. Booooo! Down with colds! Every time I get a cold I am so pissed that I can’t or shouldn’t run. At least that’s what I think is the right thing to do. Rest right? What do you all do? I mean, I don’t feel tired right now but I know I’ll be drained by the end of the day. Anyone got a cure all?
I’ve got my normal Saturday 10 miler on deck but will need to see which way Mr. Boogers wants to play this. We can either Day-Quil him to death or I’m bringing out the big guns, antibiotics.
Either way, I hope YOU all have great non-nose blowing filled weekends. Holla.
I always rest, but I've heard others that run through colds. I think it's just up to you chica! I would def take some Nyquil though!
Some weeks are just like that! I've heard that if the cold is above your neck you're o.k. to run. So that's what I've followed. Not to say it isn't easy with snot trails down your face. Hope you get it worked out so you can get in your run!
Just what I was going to say Jen! Your clear to run Beth!! Happy ten'r
if its just congestion above the neck (sinuses, etc) you are okay to run. If it goes below the neck (lungs, etc) you need to rest.
My logic works more like, if you are leaving an actual trail of slime, stay home, otherwise, happy running!! feel better soon!
Doesn't sound like boogers but the snots! Ha, I don't have a cure but plenty of rest and adult beverages.
Yuck! Sorry to hear it's a cold…hopefully, it doesn't make it to your lungs and you're all better soon!
Go see the doctor before it gets worse! I had to take two courses of antibiotics right after the L.A. Marathon to get over my cold. It wasn't letting go on it's own!
Ick. Feel better soon lady! I NEED A COCKTAIL. Just sayin'.
Hope you get your 10-miler in. I run through the colds. I swear it kicks them to the curb.
sorry it's been such a tough week! Hope you feel better soon!
I usually run even with a cold…unless it is bothering my asthma. Hope you are feeling better soon!
My aunt (who's an RN) told me that running with allergies are actually helpful for the allergies. I had really bad seasonal allergies in high school and they usually kicked in around April, unless I was running track. Then they didn't kick in until June.
I read somewhere that athletes at the top of their game often come down with lurgies as there is a fine line between being in great shape and "snotty and sneezing."
Still, I wouldn't discount the allergies theory it may be you have a few, I've been suffering with them of late.
By the way,
who is this "wonky" character? And why are they giving you the "stink eye"?
Ick! That's so craptastic!
Allergies stink and colds are worse.
I hope you rest, recover, and get to run just a little bit.
Have a good weekend, B.O.B.! Thanks for the vote of confidence on FB last week =)
…perhaps if you run fast enough
you can leave the pesky head-cold
at mile 3, and feel better at the end.
Run, BoB… no reason not to.
Don't let the snot get the best of you.
Perhaps your "epic fail" this week
is what led to not feeling well…
I love the running community so much sometimes. Posts about snots are just so normal. :o)
I'm having the same snotty issues…I think I like the answer that says it may be allergies and running will help! That's what I'm going with and that's my final answer! 😀
