Today when I arrived to work I did my usual morning greetings. Yep, I’m that person. I say good morning to everyone and am annoyingly perky. For the most part. If I’ve already had my coffee.
Upon greeting a male colleague he looked at me and said, “Did you do something different?” while motioning to his face.
“Oh that.” I replied. “I put make-up on.”
It wasn’t until this moment that I realized what was happening to me. I am becoming even more obsessed with running. Or am being super lazy in the pretty girl department.
I am girly. I like make-up, heels, and an episode of Sex In The City. (How cool is it that Carrie walks around in her underwear all the time? Lady Gaga should give her some props for being the original leotard wearer.) In addition to the eleventy billion running/tri blogs I follow, I also follow plenty of fashion and beauty blogs.
Don’t get me wrong though I also enjoy basketball, football, and action films and video games. But lately I have been slacking in the make-up department.
Want to know why?
Because when I get home from the office I am in a mad rush to walk the dog (Poop already Lloyd!), lower the A/C for the roommate, change into running gear, pack towel and G2, apply sunscreen and make it to the BRA’s run spot. To add in the extra minutes needed to remove eye make-up and wash my face just seems silly in the grand scheme of scheduling woes.
This morning however, I decided my co-workers were probably tired of looking at my make-up less face.* Not to mention, I was tired of looking at my un-lined eyes in my rearview mirror. And honestly, you never know who you are going to run into. I mean what if while on my lunch break I run into Bradley Cooper at Quizno’s and he isn’t stunned by my beauty (Maybe She’s Born With It? Maybe It’s…)?
I guess I am back to make-up removal pre-run. It’s an added step that I must get used to. If not for myself then at least for Bradley Cooper.
Now if only I could work a leotard into my wardrobe….
*In the spirit of full disclosure, I was wearing some make-up. Just not enough to be noticeable.
lol!
Wait, who is Bradley Cooper?
oh eliza. he's a hot hottie. he's in the hangover. look him up.
Or of course, you could just keep the makeup on and wipe your face on your white running shirt..like I do. LOL Not recommeded btw.
Sweaty make-up face is gross. It's gross on towels and shirts but especially on my cellphone when I call someone and leave a residue of make-up/filth.
Oh how I LOVE Bradley Cooper!! He's beautiful!! I don't wear a lot of makeup but I do wear the mineral kind so I have to wash it off my face before a run. If not, my face is on fire! The minerals heat up and it's not a pretty sight!
I was just thinking to myself today that I really needed to start stepping it up at work. I haven't done my hair in weeks and today TD asked my why I have been looking so sad lately… aka I look like crap! This running is taking over our lives B!!!!!
On the mornings I swim I don't have time to mess around before work. I go in my hair is wet and when it dries it goes up in a ponytail. Luckily, no body really dresses up to the nines here!
haha, I'm the same way! I don't remember the last time I "did" my hair for work – what's the point, I'm totally working 1 minute after I get home. Seems like a waste to me. I'm with you 🙂
oh man, i freaking loooooooove bradley cooper! i was starting to think you'd actually met him!!!
overall, i'm not too much of a make-up-y girl… i only wear very little and it's gone by the end of the day anyway. i'm pretty sure you don't need it though, right?
You are so funny!!! And I can relate to you– except for all the girly things you wrote about.
When I get home– I have a similar routine– taking the dog out, getting dinner ready, feeding the dog, taking off suit and tie– I RUSH trhough everything so I can get out the door and run. I am beginning to feel bad for everyone and everything that depend on me– my focus is on the road!
I go with moisturizer and mascara, just too lazy for makeup. Then again, we don't have a Quiznos here, so I'm not likely to run into Bradley Cooper anytime. (Because I'm sure he doesn't eat at Subway.)
Also, I saw a pic of Lady Gaga in some trash magazine I was reading while getting my hair cut and she was wearing the leotard with shoes stuck on her front. WTF?
At least you are not one of those bimbos who runs with make-up on. What is up with that – especially in Houston (or Florida for that matter)? One mile in, said bimbo looks like a clown.
For the defense of women who run with make-up…sometimes, they only have time to get off work (where they had make-up on) and go straight to running. Taking time to take make-up OFF before running seems silly. To me, at least. Run with it on, and then get home and clean your entire body. That extra step is sooooooooooo not necessary. Don't judge, jamoosh! LOL
Hahaha, I LOVED this post–and also, this just happened to me a couple days ago. For whatever reason, I FINALLY decided to put on makeup after about a 6-month hiatus (yikes), and everyone at work acted all CRAZY-DRAMATIC LIKE WHOA when they saw me, as though they didn't recognize me. Hmm, maybe I should make the effort every once in a while if I look THAT bad without the makeup! Besides, if I run into Bradley Cooper, I'd like to not scare him to death! 😉
ahhhh Bradley Cooper….
This post made me laugh. I do wear make up to the office, but most of the time, am too lazy to wipe it off before my workout. You can spot me in the gym really easily: I'm the one with raccoon eyes, with mascara dripping down my face. oh yeah, it is such a hot look 🙂
lol i can't remember the last time i wore makeup! i am soooo lazy lately. that and the fact that i work on a construction site now and i'm not too concerned about impressing those classy men 😉 i don't think i'll be running into any bradley coopers out there!
haha , i just posted how I go straight from run to work…no shower…nothing. I'm such a dirtball!!
haha! I was just thinking the same thing at work today…I've gotten so lazy about my hair and makeup that I just roll into the office w/a ponytail and eyeliner. Done. Too lazy to deal with washing my face before an evening run!
I love your dog's name. Very cute. Hey, at least you shower. I'm home with the kids and lately it's 7:00 at night before I change out of my stinky running clothes and finally take a shower.
Maybe I should pretend like I could run into J.T. at any moment and then I might put on some makeup more than once in a blue moon.
Love the post. I have been skipping the eye liner because it runs when I sweat! Since I've am back to my 2 (or 3) a days of working out, I have been skipping it! My coworkers probably think I'm being lazy!
I don't think I've worn makeup since the first day I laced up. Who has time for that? 🙂
My job involves working outside so it's tempting to go sans make-up, but then considering how much time we spend at work, that means I'd be looking so-so for the majority of the day! Mascara is my minimum effort, eyeliner when I'm feeling frisky and lip gloss for potential Bradley Cooper (or in my case, Clive Owen) sightings. Way to dress it up, SITSta 🙂
Too funny! I love your posts! I'm such a lazy girl. I go to bed with make up on (well, what's left of it from the day) sometimes. I know it's such a bad thing, but oh well. At least you find time to work in that extra few minutes to remove the eye make up. And running really does take over your life. You are running so many miles! Wow!
Well I don't face that issue LOL. I just have to find the right time to run, work and catch a train for my commute.
I have that same problem with the make-up thing!!!! Ha
Speaking of Quizno's, they are running a video contest right now and I am one of the ten finalists and I am humbly asking for votes in it. If you and your readers are willing, here are the details:

Vote for "skyscraper of sandwiches" by Joel (that's me.)
You can vote once a day if you think it's ridiculously awesome. Or blog about it if that's more fun.
lol! Great post! (Looking at unlined eyes in the rear view mirror – still cleaning up the coffee I spit).
thankfully i work at home, so no one has to see my face, cuz i never bother with make-up. lol. How fun to see Bradley Cooper though!
Great post!! You made me laugh out loud! But listen girly….Bradley Cooper is MINE! MINE! MINE! MINE!! ; – )
Sharing the love….Happy Saturday Sharefest!
Hope you bump into Bradley soon! So that you can stop wearing make-up again…
I enjoyed visiting you today;)
Happy Saturday Sharefest!
See you around!
