April is here and the cool temps of the past few months are in the rear-view mirror. I’m sad to see them go for running reasons, but I love the longer days. Plus, I can’t wait for beach days and triathlon season. Yes, you read that right. I’m actually going to compete in triathlon again. Nothing major, but a sprint tri and being part of a kick ass relay are in my future. Here’s how my March shaped up:
Run 74 miles
Bike 30 miles
Swim 2 sad miles (Where has all my swimming gone?)
Strength & Conditioning 3 sessions, back at it with Tribal at a brand new gym
Races Nada
Current Reads At the start of the month I was reading Stephen King’s Finders Keepers. I enjoy a good Stephen King every now and again, and this one didn’t disappoint. It’s more detective novel, than supernatural thriller and it was a sort of sequel to Mr. Mercedes, which I also really enjoyed. I will pick up the third book in that trilogy as soon as it’s released in June. I just finished The Good Earth, which I purchased for $6 at Barnes and Noble on a whim. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It’s a tale of a family through several generations in China and it’s fascinating that it was written by an American woman in 1931. My next read is called All the Birds in the Sky. A co-worker lent it to me so I’m ready to dive into that one.
Current Obsession I’m fairly certain that I’ve mentioned, oh say, 800 times, my love of the TV show Broad City. Season three is out and I can’t get enough. I wish Hulu would just catch up already but waiting for the episodes if fun in an old school way. My good friend Tori sent me a Bingo Bronson coffee mug and I just about died. (Bingo Bronson is a cartoon character featured in an episode.) If you haven’t watch Broad City, you need to check it out. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I cannot get enough of it.
Current Song I finally downloaded the Florence + the Machine album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and it’s on repeat. I love the entire album. (Yes, I know this was released in 2014. I’m just behind the times, mkay?)
Current Need End of the political season. *groan*
Current Triumph Hm. I’m not feeling very triumphant currently. I’ll get back to you…
Current Bain of My Existence Grocery shopping for meal prep. I buy the groceries (which I loathe doing. #FirstWorldProblems), then I prep (sorta), then the food we don’t get to goes bad. It’s a vicious cycle. I’m working on buying the foods that I know we will eat AND fighting the urges to come home after work and say, “I just don’t feel like cooking.”
Current Goal Relax this weekend. That’s it. Super lofty. I just want to relax, as Frankie says…
Current Indulgence It was prime rib night last night at the hotel and spa nearby. We had a “I just don’t feel like cooking” night and indulged. Was delicious.
Current Blessings Friends who understand and really “get” what I’m feeling. They are the best, aren’t they?
Current Excitement Our France trip flights are booked!!!
