A few weeks ago after finishing a tough ride on a hot Sunday, my friends and I came upon a group of do-gooders handing out cold, bottled waters to cyclists finishing up on the trail. As it turns out they were there promoting their upcoming event for charity.
Since I’m such a shy person, I struck up a conversation with the folks handing out this deliciously cold water. This group was from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Florida Chapter. They were out letting cyclists know about their upcoming ride called Cycle for Life. There is a local ride in Tampa, but there are also rides all across the country. (Found HERE.)
As I spoke with Dawn, the Director of Development, we talked about them getting the word out since it’s such a great cause and I offered to post it up on facebook, twitter, and my blog and wherever else I could to help them get more support. In reading up on cystic fibrosis I felt the need to help out more because it truly is a devastating disease. Coincidentally, a friend of a good friend is currently fighting this disease and this is my small way of helping.
After Dawn and I exchanged some emails she offered is to host a super awesome giveaway right here on this lil ol’ blog of mine. Hooray! Doin’ good feels good!
For the giveaway the CFF is offering the following awesome items:
A Vigor Helmet to one lucky winner! (Specs: NOX Blade Red XL 60-66cm. Street Fit 360)

A $50 gift card to the Trikke store in Tampa!
(You can order and have items shipped online if you don’t live in Tampa.) I’ve always wanted to try out one of these cool thingys!
Two winners will be drawn at random and announced next Friday, September 7th.. Here’s how you can help CFF AND enter the give way! Please make one comment per entry.
1. Go like the CFF on facebook by clicking HERE.
2. Share the CFF events either on twitter OR facebook and let me know in a comment that you did. To find the event near you click HERE.
3. For three extra entries commit to one of the rides and let me know which one and where. I’m signing up for the local ride today!
Local peeps or those willing to travel: The Tampa ride is on October 27th. The cool part is that they have three distances (20, 50, and 75) and right now through Monday, September 3rd, you can register for $10! Local area peeps, who’s coming with me? I suspect some of the other rides around the country will also be offering discount registrations now too or at some point.
Today, I’m thankful for doing good and helping others where I can. It’s easy to get wrapped up in our daily lives and forget that there are many out there who could use our help. I hope you all can make one of these rides and if you aren’t a big cyclist, don’t worry because they have rides starting at 20 miles.
