My buddy Jim over at Insane Marathon Training tagged me to play along in a runner’s version of 20 questions. I’m a blogger so I naturally want to write a million things about myself. We’re pretty humble and shy that way. Wink wink. Plus, I am always looking for new(ish) things to write about.
1. How long have you been running?
I officially ran my first marathon in 2009 but I dabbled in a few 5K’s before that. I’ll go with 2009 because that’s when shit got real.
2. Why did you start running?
The marathon was a “before I turn 30” list item and I figured I could run a 5K so of course I could run a marathon. Yeah, 2009-Beth was a dumb ass. That marathon hurt, but I was hooked and determined to do better.
3. What is the furthest distance you have ever ran?
I have run 26.2 miles and that’s quite enough for me. I have little to no interest in ultras at this time. (I said this about an ironman too and look where we are…)
4. What is your best running memory?
Ack. This is a tough one. I love running so much and have so many awesome memories but I’d have to say that running the last full Gasparilla Marathon in 2010 in my hometown was THE best. Lots of friends and family and a PR that didn’t hurt until mile 25. It was spectacular.
5. What shoes do you run in?
I’m currently running in Saucony Guide 7’s.
6. What are your favorite and least favorite distances to run or race?
I love the 5K and the 70.3. I hate the 10K.
7. Do you have a running partner?
Not really. I run with whomever is available and I consider Tori and Meghan my ironman training partners since we all are gearing up for the big 140.6.
8. What is your favorite place to run?
It will always be along the bay in Tampa on Bayshore Boulevard. You can always expect some wind, lots of other runners and walkers, and sometimes a dolphin sighting.
9. What is your favorite running accessory?
My Louis Vuitton running socks, of course. Just kidding. I guess my Road ID. It makes me feel better about running solo in case I trip and bust my face.
10. Do you like outdoor or indoor running?
Outdoor all the way! I hate a treadmill and don’t know how people can run for so long on them. I give them mad props. It’s hard to get me to three miles on one!
11. What is your favorite time of the day to run?
I LOVE my weekend long runs in the early morning. I’d run in the AM everyday if I could.
12. What races have you ran?
Please see my races page. Ha. (7 full marathons, 9 half marathons, 2 half ironmans, a butt load of sprint tris, oly tris, and 5K’s. 1 sad 10K, blech.)
13. What music do you listen to when running?
Oh just the songs of my brain rattling off nonsense about my life. It sounds a bit like whales mating.
14. What is the coldest or hottest weather you have ever ran in?
I think the coldest is probably from a 5K in Michigan. It was snowing. The hottest probably about 90. I prefer cold though but tri season in Florida means all hot, all the time.
15. What are some other exercises you love?
I love the Body Pump DVDs I just bought and I love yoga when I have time to do it.
16. Are you currently training for something?
Ironman Chattanooga baby!
17. What are your current or future goals?
Well this is a biggie. I’d definitely like to finish my Ironman! I also want to make it to Boston…one of these years…
18. Advice for new runners?
Be patient with yourself and remember that speed is relative. Everyone has someone faster than them.
19. Why did you start making running vlogs/and or blogs?
That’s a good question! I started this blog on a whim when my friend Red said it would be fun. I like writing so I figured, why not? Mind you, this was 2009 and I hadn’t read a single blog before I started mine. Blogging is so huge right now it’s crazy!
20. Who will you tag?
I’m going with new blogger on the block Keara over at No Salad, Extra Gluten Please
