For those of you not on Daily Mile (DM) it’s worth checking out because it’s a good way to log your workouts, rather than just using the Garmin graphs. DM sometimes posts these questions or “Daily Missions” and today’s mission was “What one word best describes how cycling makes you feel?” Of course I answered anxious and vomity but upon further thought I don’t really feel that way once I get going.
I totally stole this from DM, but when I do get going on the bike, I feel more like this:
Remember how much Pee Wee loved his bike? I have to admit it was pretty BA, even if he did go looking for it in the basement of the Alamo. I digress, I mean I feel like that in a good way. Once I get going, especially when I’m riding by myself, I do get a certain amount of pleasure out of cycling. When I’m at the paved trail I really enjoy looking at the scenery and being out with all that nature. (Yes, I said “that nature.”)
As I move forward with tri training I’m going to think of Pee Wee and his love of that crazy ass red bicycle. If you hear a loud “Heh-heh!” during this tri season. Don’t worry, it’s just me.
Bad touch! Bad touch! Sorry, whenever I see Pee Wee that's what I think in my head! LOL!
I've said it a million times Boo, believe to achieve!
LOL! I must encourage all readers to only think of the movie Pee Wee. And not the Paul Reubens freakshow.
I'm a running wussy. I spend most of my runs worried about how fast or slow I ride! totally get it!
bicycle = WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I am old enough to have seen the movie in the movie theater (in Texas). With a girl who could reproduce the "There is no basement in the Alamo!" comment to the tee. We laughed about it then and for years later.
You will conquer it!! Even with my fear of falling or fear of turn arounds that are too sharp or trying to grab a water bottle while riding I still love it more than running! I need to get over my anxiety of being a slow runner…
I have said many times – when I first got on my bike 4+ years ago – I fell many times. It was a joke on the base riding group. Hey – Steve you okay. "there goes Steve again. Thankfully – he has a crappy bike" somewhere along the way in that first year or so – I figured it out and stopped falling (for the most part!)
First things first:
"What one word best describes how cycling makes you feel?" Of course I answered anxious and vomity
ONE WORD?
Second things second:
Ride Dolly until Dolly tells you to get off….TWSS!
as long as we don't hear, "i meant to do that" it's all good!
ROFL!!!! Love this!
I'm not so good on two wheels….I owned a motorcycle for two days….and I fell of a bicycle last year….so… I think I'm gonna stick with two legs over two wheels. But in a related note, my manager at work apparently has fond memories of Pee Wee Herman because it's not uncommon to hear a "Heh-heh" or a "Hey Pee Wee" while working haha

Yea I'm having a tough time getting out on the road this year too. The bike is the bane and that attitude must change. many miles to ride before victory we can find. enjoy!
"I'm a rebel Dottie"….
Just ride more… and one day that bike will feel like an extension of your body… and you will believe that you can fly
I am such a moron on the bike. I'm always falling off it because I'm an idiot and a klutz. I solemnly swear to get over my fear and do another tri this fall. Yep, I'm gonna do it. Oh God help me.
