I had a pretty spectacular August. Yes, I had a few lows but in looking at the big picture, I’d say I set out what I aimed to do. I saw a few movies, went to a concert, and even got a few great dinners with friends. I’m happy that September is finally here as I’m in the home stretch to Ironman Chattanooga!
Run 132 miles BAM! Hit my goal.
Bike 449 miles – BAM! Hit my goal AND this is the most cycling I’ve ever done. Ever.
Swim 17 miles – Guess what? BAM! Goal! Right on the nose.
Races Nada. Although, I did do a “ride” called the Tour of Sebring. It was 105 miles of ouch.
Current Reads I finished the final Gillian Flynn novel, Sharp Objects. It was good, not as good as the other two, but just as satisfyingly creepy. I started reading Advanced Marathoning (2nd Edition) as I’ve seen some great runners use it and I am thinking I’ll choose a plan from this book for Grandma’s Marathon. And of course, I’ve been reading and re-reading this:
Current Obsession Saltine crackers. This is completely random, I know, but lately I’ve been craving them. I’m just gonna go with it.
Current Song I love the Mary Lambert song Secrets (I posted it last week).
Current Need I need someone to come and pack all my ironman crap for me. Oh and tell me what to wear. I’m still torn on all of it. I see a post coming out of that.
Current Triumph I know it’s a little early to celebrate, but I do want to pat myself on the back for making it this far in the ironman training. It’s been blood, sweat, and tears. Truth.
Current Bane of My Existence Ouchy lady parts and 900 post long ride pimples. Thanks cycling!
Current Goal Yeah, you guessed it, FINISH THAT IRONMAN!
Current Indulgence Copious amounts of Gatorade. I used to NEVER drink Gatorade and now I can’t get enough of it. I’m going to have to detox after this race. I accidentally bought a G2 the other day and holy crap it tasted awful. Haha.
Current Blessings The Tuesday AM run group has been amazing. These folks show up every week and I’m so happy to have them. I hope this continues to grow.
Current Excitement Hm. Nothing I can think of. Anything I should be excited about?
How was your August? Looking forward to Fall?
EEE! So close! I am so excited for you guys! Way to go on hitting those goals!
I drove home from yesterday's ride with a bag of ice on my crotch. It was the best thing ever.
You are AMAZING! I'm so excited for your race. And that I don't have to do it 😀
That is a fantastic month! It's amazing the kind of numbers you put up in Ironman training. People don't believe that kind of work is humanly possible until they do it. 132 miles of running, wow. I only got 119 in last month. Great job! You're going to crush it in Nooga.
Outstanding Post, Again!!! Fabulous Numbers!!! So Much To Accomplish This Month. Stay Strong!!!

I was trying to email you but it kept kicking it back as undeliverable.
Anways,
Hey good luck on your IM that's so exciting!!!! Soak it all in because it will seriously be one of the best days of your life. Don't worry about goals or finishing because you will finish, you have put in the time, just make sure you look around, talk to people, cheer with the crowd as you run by them and most of all take as many mental notes of the finishers shoot as you can. It will all go by so fast but will stay with you for the rest of your life. The pain is only temporary but the strength you will build is for life! So I assume you and your bike are best friends by now!!! 🙂
Ok so I realized that I already did read Sharp Objects… and I liked it but it gave me nightmares (and I read it on my honeymoon hah!). I started Dark Places and then stopped . I can't remember which one you said grows on you but now I"m thinking Dark Places since you think it's better than Sharp Objects! Must keep reading….
Your training is going great! You are going to be so ready!
