Since it’s race week again, I’m eating weird and feeling weird. I typically feel a little strange during race weeks. I’m equal parts nerves and excitement. It leads me to eat strangely and become preoccupied with thoughts of racing. What boss, you needed that done hours ago? Well, you see I was busy transitioning in my brain from swim to bike.

As for the eating part, for breakfast this AM after a short swim I had a banana, an egg and cheese pita, and a couple of saltine crackers. I definitely didn’t warrant all of that and yet my nervousness leads me to extra calories. You should see me before a marathon. Hide yo kids, hide yo wives…

While I have loved this crazy ass month of July with it’s eleventy billion races, I am feeling a tad bit burnt out. And even though I have newly found arm muscles thanks to the swimming and biking, I need to switch my focus to the run. Plus, there is just something about racing that takes a lot out of you. Oh I know. The racing part. Heh.

Thankfully, I’ve no scheduled races in August and am just going to train for that 1/2 Ironman Relay I’ve got in September. I got a lovely training plan from Coach EK and can’t wait to ramp up the running again. I have definitely decided to keep riding and swimming as my cross-training days but won’t feel the pressure I’ve felt this month due to all the racing. Yay!

It’s going to be different this year as I get ready for that Miami Marathon. It’s looming over head because I’ve got a big goal set for myself and I really want to keep getting better on the bike. We’ll see how it goes.

Have a great Wednesday. Don’t stop, get it, get it!
