This post is a bit of a departure from my running/triathlon ramblings, but if you’ve read this blog for any length of time you will know that I am somewhat of a geek. Ok, fine, I’m a big geek. And I love all things geeky: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, etc. etc. etc. This is why I am so thrilled to have been given free tickets to GeekyCon 2015 in Orlando, Florida, in exchange for a before and after post about this event. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

I’ve been to MegaCon and Spooky Empire, and while those were both fun, I’m REALLY looking forward to GeekyCon. It’s more all encompassing of fandom versus just comic books or the horror genre. Plus, you know, Harry Potter.
This convention is being held from Wednesday, August 29th through Sunday, August 2nd in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center. It features more cool events than you can shake a Firebolt racing broom at. (See what I did there?)

I am personally looking forward to seeing the guy who creates languages, like Dothraki, and Jackie Emerson, “Foxface” from the Hunger Games. Plus, a lot of cool authors will be there. Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent Series will be hosting several interactive literature sessions. Holly Black who wrote The Spiderwick Chronicles is also hosting a few sessions. Be still my geeky heart. And if you are into Glee a bunch of those actors will be there too. Honestly, I can’t even begin to list all the awesome.

And if there weren’t already a killer lineup of Geek Mecca, they’ve added a major event. On Wednesday night, they reserved The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am. JUST. FOR. US. GEEKS. Pick up your jaw. You’re drooling.
