Happy July everyone! I remember this month being one of the hottest last summer so I’m not surprised that my current long run pace has slowed way, way, way, and I mean way, down. I’m just going to suffer through it and pray it’s cooler in Chattanooga come end of September. Only three months to go! I hit BIG numbers in June and I’m excited to see how the swim, bike, run shaped up.
Run 112 (Hooray! Back to higher run mileage!)
Bike 433 (The goal was 400!)
Swim 16 (I didn’t even hit this while training for the Frogman 5K. No wonder it was so hard.)
Races Nada
Current Reads Happy to report I read a book in June! I read Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. It only took me one day so it’s obviously a very quick read, but it was so good and so odd. I can’t even begin to describe the plot because there are so many twists in it. Be warned, it’s got a lot of unbelievable plot twists and is pretty dark.
I’m currently reading The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen. I have to say that it’s dragging a bit for me. I’m just now hitting the middle of the book so I’m hoping it picks up soon.
Current Obsession Deciding what to do on our mini-vacation in Savannah this weekend. We’ve found so many options I can’t decide what to do and what to skip. I’ve been scouring trip advisor and Food Network for ideas!
Current Song Rude by Magic! It’s got a fun, island vibe and if you listen to the lyrics it’s about a guy asking for a girl’s hand in marriage and her dad saying nope.
Current Need Not a darn thing. I’m just enjoying all the great stuff I do have, material and non-material.
Current Triumph My 90 mile bike ride where I did the end 30ish miles solo. That was tough!
Current Bane of My Existence Summer long runs. That is all.
Current Goal Have a strong July with out any workout meltdowns. Hahaha.
Current Indulgence Extra calories. Ok, so I know I’m not supposed to eat like a ton of extra calories but I’m burning so much that I’m really enjoying the extra serving of food right now. I don’t want to get too used to it, because I don’t want to gain weight after the ironman. But for now, I’m eating like an ironman.
Current Blessings My health and always having food to eat and a roof over my head. Not everyone is as lucky and I really try to appreciate this daily.
Current Excitement Savannah trip, duh.
How was your June? Ready for the Fourth of July?
My June was too hot and I dread what July will bring, lol. Marathon training officially starts the end of this month so I'm building back up to that. Have a great mini-vacay in Savannah. I've never been but I hear it's really pretty.

You're really kicking ass! I can't wait to see how high your numners on in the next few months before ironman! Summer runs suck! I remember when I did the NY Half that I said I would never complain about a hot run again because i ran in two long sleeves, gloves, pants, ear warmers and never warmed up.. yea I am missing that now.
I am certainly eating as if I was training for an Ironman, sadly, i am not.
GREAT JOB!
June was pretty great for me and sounds like you had a good one too! July tends to be crazy hot here as opposed to June which is more mild. I start my tri training this week which is exciting! Be prepared to have me shooting questions at you on twitter!
My favorite eats in Savannah were from Zunzi's (delicious sandwiches), Vinnie Van Go Go's pizza, and SoHo South Café. I've also heard good things about Leopold's ice cream but it was so crowded we skipped it. Have fun! Savannah is gorgeous! Also, Moon River Brewing Company has tasty beer.
I'm glad you enjoyed how messed up Invisible Monsters was! 🙂
So proud of you on your 90-miler! I know it's hard, but you are getting it done Boo!
Those are the kind of numbers I'd expect to see in Ironman training! And almost exactly the same numbers that I put up. So well done! Go us!
I know I'm old now because every time I see that music video I love the song, but find myself siding with the dad. Don't let your daughter marry that dirty hippie! Come on man.
Have fun in Sav! I love it down there, and need to get back sometime this year.
You are a rock star and you inspire me daily! Fantastic month!!
You are training like a badass Ironwoman! Definitely not a turd (although that totally cracked me up).
Ironman training looks awesome on you, just saying. Nice miles this month girl! I love "rude" too…can't help but jam along to it when it comes on!
