Ah, the hilarity.
I basically got up to speed on the moving belt and then hit the incline button. Let me say this, running hills on a treadmill can be dangerous. On an actual hill it’s much easier to just slow down. If you slow down on a treadmill you are more than likely going to bust your butt. I did not fall but there was a few moments where I thought I might. Luckily, the gym was empty. (Fatties in my complex were all at home.)
Hopefully this will be the last week that I have to do hills on the ‘mill. I plan on heading out to the actual hills in the mornings from now on. It’s going to be tough, but I’ve figured out how to get my workouts in on the days that I can’t make them in the evening. Here’s a quick rundown:
Mon. – AM Hills
Tues. – PM Recovery Run
Wed. – AM Tempo/Speedwork
Thurs. – AM Medium Long Run
Fri. – AM Recovery Run or Crosstrain (Optional)
Sat. – AM Long Run
Sun. – PM Recovery Run or Crosstrain
I trust that you all will help keep me honest and on it. I’ve got my game face on now people.
BTW, my new favorite “power” song is Bamboo Banga by M.I.A. Check it out here. It’s a very different song but the tempo is good and so is the line “Road runner, road runner, going 100 miles per hour….”
Happy Tuesday folks. Git er done!
Hills on the treadmill are scary! Your schedule looks good – way to fit all those runs in.
I have a hard enough time WALKING hills on the 'mill. I would have been holding on for dear life.
Nice looking plan!
I wish my gym was empty when I wanted to do the mill! I have to hold on so that I don't fall off!!!!
Hills on the Mill! Fo reals?!?!? And here I was thinking I was hard core for doing my hills in the rain last night! You win!
Keep it real yo! Gasparilla here she comes!
Good thing you were alone int he gym – I always get the strangest looks if I do hills on a treadmill. All the non-runners are like 'why would you do something stupid like an incline?'
Love the song! I can't even get a 5k done on the treadmill so I have to brave the weather outside 🙁 Your schedule looks great!

if you put a mill outside on a hill, is it the same workout? Mills on Hills? Just a thought.
I've never run with an incline on one … I hate them so much that flat was about as far as I let that little booger take me.
But I'm getting so completely frozen out here that I'd better make nice with the tread, otherwise my butt is gonna get big(ger) …
Great plan. Is there no "rest" day or is that just me being lazy?
I love to do my hill workouts on the dreadmill! Good job on getting them done!
Good on ya for all the early stuff and dreadmill work… dedication
Great job on the treadmill. Your post title made me think of meals on wheels! Don't ask. lol. I checked out that song. Its different for me, but I can see how it would get your butt moving. More like dancing. lol. Have a good one
The things we do to get our runs in when it gets dark at 5pm and it's cold as crap in the morning!!!! Hills are dangerous on the mill. I usually do a speed workout with it then jump off and on so I don't have to try to slow the mill down–I would never survive!!! I am so glad you are with me on the pasta–I thought I was the only runner in the world that didn't live for it! 🙂 Stick to it girl! I'll keep you honest 🙂
Ha ha! I totally agree! Treadmill hills are the devil. You can't slow down or you risk a faceplant, and you have to hold on to the handrail while pressing the button and you look like your doing your best rodeo impression…
Is that just me?
But good job on the 5 miler! Roger that.
I did hills on the mill, once…and then I felt backwards and found myself running on carpet…so never again! At least you almost fell and didn't actually fall like I did because then that would be hilarious…just saying!
Stick to the outside…it's better for your running and for your pride too…trust me! LOL!
the treadmill scares me so much…you are brave!
I'm impressed that you did hills on the treadmill. I always just jump off and straddle the belt until I get it slowed down enough. I listened to the song. Definitely a good one to add to the playlist. That's a lot of running. Do you have any "rest" days?
hills on mills = dread on the tread.
You should crosstrain Friday.
So you rest on the 8th day of the week?
I thought speed work was on Thursdays….
hooo… three days of recovery pace runs and no rest days? better get some rest there girl.
I have definitely fallen off the treadmill before in front of a packed gym. Let's just say, it was VERY embarrassing!!!
dude i avoid inclining the 'mill! anything above the usual 1.0 or 2.0 and i'm guaranteed to end up on the elliptical behind me. more power to you!!
LMAO fatties in the complex.
Found your blog, love it!!!
Nice job on the tread hills, them are tough!
I can help keep you honest on Monday. See you at 5 a.m. for hills? I am usually out there then! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, B.o.B.!
