I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns the ring of fire
The ring of fire
– Johnny Cash
Ring of Fire is my new nickname for the track. Usually I am baking out there while doing my speed work. Yesterday I received a little relief as there was some cloud coverage and a previous afternoon shower cooled it off even more.
I set out to do my 4 x 800’s at 4:15 for each one. To my surprise I kept it under the 4:15. Here are the splits:
1. 4:06
2. 4:07
3. 4:11
4. 3:55*
Yeah, I have no idea what happened at number 4, other than I wanted it to be over! I actually found myself in step with the fastest woman in group at the last 100. I was at a full on sprint and she was just running her pace! Like I said, she’s fast.
*In honor of Michael Jackson – “You know I’m bad, I’m bad, you know it…”
Wednesday’s run went pretty well. It was the hottest run of the week so far. I stupidly locked my keys in my car though and had to have a BRA member take me home to get my spare. I didn’t think locking your keys in your car was possible after the year 2000. But, I proved myself wrong in that theory. Me = dumbass.
I only have one more run for the week (my running week starts on Sunday). I have a 10 miler scheduled for tomorrow but may add a couple miles to make up those I lost due to the 5K on Sunday and hills on Monday.
On another note, I did some pushups and situps after Wednesday’s run. I only did 20 pushups, but when I woke up yesterday my first thought was, “Owww, why am I so sore? Did I try to lift a car? Oh yeah, stupid pushups.” Guess I better get more core work in…
Tonight is my running night off and I’ve got the first season of True Blood on DVD waiting for me at home. Can’t wait!
Have a great weekend.
oh B.o.B I heart Johnny Cash! Gluck on the 10 miler! I feel the same about push ups! Have a great weekend 🙂
Great job on the push ups! I need to be doing some myself!
We LOVE True Blood! At first I thought it was kind of cheesy and the acting wasn't that good but it's got a way to keep you hanging for the next episode and now we can't wait for it to come on!!!
First off I do not believe that you are a dumbass… I would go with the term FAIL in scenario's such as these. LOL!
As for the push-ups and sit -ups, GET 'EM GIRL! Use Gwen for inspiration!!!! 🙂
I CAN'T WAIT for next weekend!!!! See you soon! 🙂
Great job on the track and with the pushups!
Great to see another True Blood fan is in the making 🙂 hehe
Awesome splits 🙂
Try the 100 Push-Up Challenge. You do less push-ups in more sets so you end up surprising yourself and building up :}
Happy weekend!
Wow!! I can't believe all that fast running!! I'm pretty sure I will never aspire to running a marathon, BUT I am hoping to maybe do a triathalon at some point 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Looking at your 800 times- it looks like we are pretty close pacewise!
Congrats on a great workout. 800's can be quite a drag!
just found your blog 🙂
that is a perfect name for the track!! awesome job on those intervals. have a great 10 miler tomorrow!
Great job on your intervals! The best workouts are always those that end up faster than what you expect.
You're amazing!!!

Every time I read your blog I realize that I need to get off my arse more!
Good For You!! From what I've heard this sport can become quite addicting!! Me…I'll just listen and read about it! LOL!! ;O)
Thnx for stopping bye today!
Nice splits, chica!
Can't wait until I get into the repeat workouts in my training plan. As a former sprinter, I LOVE being out on the track!
Enjoy the long run and the weekend!
