How lame is that? If you said, “Super lame B.o.B.” Then I am in agreement.
Now don’t get me wrong, running for personal reasons and goals is where it’s at, but there are only so many races one can do without thinking why not run for a charity this time?
I’ve completed four marathons and at each one I head to the expo and see lots of groups raising money for lots of different charities. All totally worthy of generosity, and each has a special meaning to the folks working with them. The one that always jumped out at me was the USO.
The USO is a non-profit, non-political organization that helps lift the spirits of American troop and their families. The USO has centers at various airports and provides a touch of home to troops who are travelling. In addition, the USO provides care packages and entertainment to troops abroad.
As I am a proud, patriotic American I felt this was a great way for me to give back to US servicemen and women. Thus I set up a donation page and am very close to my goal, not that I’d mind passing it mind you.
Today, I am thankful for the ability to give back to those who already give so much.

So, what are you thankful for today?

In all honesty I am thankful to have 'met' you and thus Jen as well. Two great people who have a lot of charisma and spunk. I love that and you guys just keep doing what you do and all will be achieved.
That's awesome. I want to run for charity, but I'm not sure which one.
I'm thankful for the payroll company we use at work. I'm dealing with W2s today, and the company we use is soooo awesome.
Thats awesome! Since I am in the Navy, I am also thankful for the USO as well. They offer us so many great things! Thank you for donating to them!
I know this is SUPER LAME but I am thankful lately for the Blogging world. I just recently started actively blogging and reading these blogs puts a smile on my face, information in my brain, and sometimes a empathy in my heart. I love the camaraderie that is forged between run bloggers from such different areas! Its awesome! Im also thankful Miss Morgan who has introduced me to this arena! You miss B.O.B crack me up and I cant wait to meat ya in Cleveland (hopefully your still coming)!
what a great organization to raise money for! I haven't seen the USO around here in conjunction with races, but it's a great idea!
You don't have to raise money for your races. I like that people do, but it is not my style either. I give my time and money outside of racing.
I am thankful for my running buds. Because now that marathon training has kicked in, I know that of all people, they will understand when I am too busy to call/write/email/hang out like I do the rest of the year and they will not get mad.
